Negatives:

Lack of training Centres in Nagaland
2.
The concept of Urban Poor Ministry is something new to Bible
College students.
3.
There is no urban poor ministry syllabus in Bible colleges
4.
There is only one Missiological Colleges in Nagaland
5.
Even the believers doesn’t understands the total Salvation and
Holistic ministry
6.
There is lack of training for full time workers
7.
There is Economical problems for training Urban Poor Ministry even
if they are interested.
8.
Many Naga Churches are sending missionaries to other part of the
World, but not realizing Dimapur is as one of the mission fields in
Nagaland.
Challenge:
1.
We need to encourage Church workers for Urban Poor Ministry
leadership training.
2.
Through the encouragement of Bryan Johnson, Markus, and Justice For
The Poor ministry, at present, we have many young Bible students in
Dimapur are being changed few young people who are willing to go for Urban
Poor Ministry leadership training and some are willing to involved.
Suggestion:
1.
kolkata “Urban Poor Ministry Leadership Training” need to be extend
their network to
train other
people like us ( from the North East India)
2.
If it is possible, at least organize three months intensive Urban
Poor Leadership training program.

tool to train the rest of the Naga Bible students for “Urban Poor

Nagaland
and Nagas
Nagaland is
surrounded by Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar, a small
mountainous state in north-east India.
I can say in
advance that the 99% or majority of the Nagas were Christians.
Transformation
from head hunters to soul hunters:
Head-hunting
has been practiced by the Nagas for so many centuries, as a part of our
culture. Many people have wrongly assumed that head-hunting was merely a
matter of violence and murder, but it was something noble to be admired, a
proof of bravery and strength.
The Ao Naga was
the first of the Nagas tribes to receive the gospel in significant
numbers. Dr. E.W Clark from U.S.A. was the first missionary to
Nagaland. 15 men confessed their Christian faith and were baptized by Dr
E.W Clark on 22nd December 1872.
Revival in
Nagaland:
The first wave
of Revival swept through Nagaland in the earlier 1950’s. In 1976, a second
mighty wave of Revival broke out in Nagaland.
Mission:
After second
mighty Revival, the Nagas Church made a commitment to send 10,000
Cross- cultural
Missionaries to unreached Nations. Through “Nagaland Missionary movement”
and Churches sent many Missionaries to Indonesia, Philippines, China and
Japan etc. Hundreds have crossed Nagaland border into Myanmar and
Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tipura, Antaman and into many Indian cities.
The Slum
areas:
Dimapur is the
only plain area in Nagaland. There is only one Airport and one Railway
station in Nagaland that is located in Dimapur. Thousands of thousand
non-locals those who are non-Christian are migrating to Dimapur. We, the
Nagas did not know Slum areas, but day by day the slums are increasing, as
poor of the poorest are coming from the North East of India, other parts
of India and from Bangladesh. Now we have large number of Slum areas in
Dimapur Nagaland.
Ministry
Challenge:
Out of 40
million population of North East of India comprising of 166 ethnic groups;
many have not heard the gospel till today and many more hidden people in
Myanmar. There are many slum areas in other cities in North East of India,
Christian are just a handful in most of the states in North East India.
Assam- 3:32%, Tripura 1:68%, Arunachal 10:29 %, and so on.
Slum areas conditions in
Dimapur.
“No poor among
Israel open handed toward needy in your land” Deu. 15:10-11.
Our goals:
1. Commitment
to minister the poor, the rejected and the oppressed people.
2. Ability to
work as a Christian in a Christian spirit with others in harmony.
3. Ability to
communicate the word of God effectively.
4. Concern for
needy in poor communities and context.
5.
Contribution towards upliftment of the poor communities
6. Growth in
spiritual life.
7. Women
empowerment.
8. Small
Business Development.
9. Standard
craft product for development, such as hand crafted greetings cards,
gift
bags, and
jute bags.
10. Child
ministry.
11. Programs: -
English, Literacy, health, hygiene and self reliance etc.
12. Our goal is
to establish the Churches among poor people, slum areas in Dimapur and
other else
12. Holistic
ministry
Eastern
Myanmar.
The people of
Eastern Myanmar are worst than slum areas people. The areas are still
struck by famine and the people are living in a condition where there are
no proper cloths to wear and insufficient food to eat. The most hit are
the Children who suffer from malnutrition and illiteracy as there is no
School in the region. When we look geographically Nagaland is the closest
route to reach Eastern Myanmar. There is urgent need to reach them through
Education and Health care etc.
